The renovation of the 80,000 square foot environmental services building, intended to house the City of San Diego's Environmental Services Department, was designed as a demonstration project to show that the use of environmentally sensitive products could provide both cost effective and high quality space. The architects were instructed to seek out the most environmentally preferable alternatives consistent with quality. Again after a lengthy review process, Safecoat was specified throughout the project. Safecoat paints and primers were used on all the walls and trim; Safecoat DuroStain was used to stain the woodwork, which was then finished with Safecoat Polyureseal; and SafeChoice cleaning products were specified for use to maintain the facility after renovation was complete. Project architects were: Platt, Whitelaw & Associates and Lynn Froeschle Architects.
